Walter "Buzz" Congram

Buzz Congram is a Master coach with 48 years of experience coaching men and women at the high school, club, collegiate, and national team levels. His stellar collegiate career at Yale, Columbia, Rutgers and mostly Northeastern is well documented (see biography for details), and includes induction to the Northeastern University Hall of fame. He also distinguished himself in international circles, coaching in the World Championships. In 1976, Congram directed the U.S. men's lightweight eight to a bronze, and in 1983 his women's four won the silver.

Since retiring, Buzz has focused on sculling performance, especially in Master rowers. His methodology, with a focus on efficiency and speed through a better understanding of the physics of rowing and individual body mechanics, has been very successful, causing a steady stream of serious scullers to head up to Hanover for his clinics.

Combining an abundance of patience, a strong passion for teaching, and an in depth knowledge of sculling and sweep rowing, Buzz has uses innovative teaching methods to accelerate the development of greater efficiency and effectiveness in the rowing motion.We are very excited to have Buzz coaching in France!
